Robert Hirschfield, b. 1939, is a New York-based poet and journalist. His interest in troubled spots around the world such as Peru, Belfast, The West Bank and Kathmandu has influenced his poetic aesthetics, as have the poetry of William Carlos Williams, Jean Valentine and Ron Padgett. Hirschfield has written a number of essays on poets and has been a book reviewer for many years. His featured pieces and reviews have been published in journals such as Jewish Review of Books, The Jerusalem Report, Khabar, Sojourners, Teachers & Writers and The Writer. The Road To Canaan is the poetic product from years of providing care to his elderly mother who suffered with Alzheimer’s Disease. Hirschfield lives in New York, NY.
