Lyn Lifshin, b. 1944, has written more than 100 books & edited 4 anthologies of women writers. Her poems have appeared in most of the litmags in the USA. A graduate of Syracuse University & the University of Vermont, she has taught poetry & prose writing for many years at universities, colleges & high schools. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the Jack Kerouac Award for her book Kiss The Skin Off. She is the subject of an award-winning documentary film, Lyn Lifshin: Not Made Of Glass. She is the quintessential personal poet, a poet whose lifetime commitment to poetry as a way of life is unmatched by anyone in her generation. She is one of the most important American poets of the postmodern period.
